Encore Data Products, a supplier of audiovisual equipment and technology accessories for educational and institutional environments, is phasing out the blue-and-silver version of the AVID Products AE-55 headset, SKU AE-55BL. Once remaining AE-55BL inventory is depleted, Encore’s focus for this 3.5mm configuration shifts to the black-and-silver AE-55KL.

This is a color and inventory update, not a discontinuation of the AE-55 line. Only the blue-and-silver 3.5mm model, AE-55BL, is affected. AVID offers the AE-55 in 3.5mm, USB-A and USB-C connections, and Encore continues to stock the headset across those configurations.

The AVID AE-55 has long been part of Encore’s selection of school headphones and headsets. The headset pairs passive noise-reduction earpieces with a noise-canceling microphone on a 270-degree rotating boom, and uses a chew-resistant braided nylon cord and washable leatherette earpads. AVID builds the AE-55 to meet state testing requirements, including TELPAS. Encore describes it as durable, dependable and easy to clean and store, which matters in classrooms where audio equipment is handled by many students across a school year.

"Consolidating this configuration to a single color simplifies ordering without changing the headset itself," said an Encore Data Products spokesperson. "Schools that already have the blue AE-55BL can keep using it. Future purchases will simply arrive as the black-and-silver AE-55KL."

Schools do not need to replace headsets they already own. AE-55BL units already in service will continue to work exactly as before. The change applies only to what ships on new orders once blue stock runs out.

The AE-55 is one part of the broader AVID Products lineup available through Encore Data Products. Alongside 3.5mm headsets, Encore carries school audio with USB-A and USB-C connectivity, plus headphones with microphones, earbuds and other classroom audio products, so technology departments can match equipment to their device fleets rather than standardize on a single headset configuration.

"Technology coordinators manage classroom equipment in large quantities, so anything that makes selection and reordering more predictable helps," said the spokesperson. "Standardizing this version on the AE-55KL keeps an established headset option in place with less to sort through at the purchase order stage."

Encore’s catalog extends well beyond classroom headphones to charging and storage solutions, document and web cameras, interactive displays and touchscreens, microphones and speakers, PA and presentation equipment, interpretation and translation technology, streaming and podcasting equipment, and cleaning and sanitizing products for shared equipment.

Customers interested in the AE-55KL, the wider AVID AE-55 family or other school headphones can review current product availability and connection options through Encore Data Products or contact the company for assistance with larger orders and technology requirements.
