Dr. Karl D. Liedtka introduces the four-part LIVE model to help readers examine their priorities, energy and well-being

CLEONA, Pa., Sept. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- After more than 30 years as a counselor, mentor and coach, Dr. Karl D. Liedtka has brought lessons from his professional and personal experiences to "Be Present, LIVE Fully: A Guide to Balancing Growth, Connection, and Purpose." The nonfiction book combines ideas from psychology and philosophy with personal stories, exercises and reflection prompts to help readers become more present and intentional in their daily lives.

“Be Present, LIVE Fully: A Guide to Balancing Growth, Connection, and Purpose” By Karl D. Liedtka Ph.D.

The book begins with four principles: Be where you are, be who you are, be when you are and be why you are. From there, Liedtka introduces the LIVE model, which stands for Locus, Intensity, Variety and Eudaimonia. The four areas look at balancing attention between yourself and others, managing periods of effort and recovery, bringing different experiences into everyday life and aligning your actions with a deeper sense of purpose. The model is designed to be flexible, allowing readers to consider their own circumstances and make adjustments that support their well-being.

"No matter how overwhelming life becomes, you have the ability to grow, overcome challenges and increase your well-being," Liedtka said. "Everyday experiences, both ordinary and extraordinary, contain valuable lessons that can help you live with greater purpose and intention."

"Be Present, LIVE Fully" is intended for people who want to improve their well-being and become more focused on what matters to them. Liedtka hopes the book reaches young adults trying to discover their purpose, adults looking to refocus and find more balance, and people seeking practical ways to reduce distractions. The book also offers guidance and practical strategies for those experiencing depression or anxiety.

"Pain is an unavoidable part of life, but it doesn't have to be meaningless," Liedtka said. "By learning from our struggles, we can discover resilience, wisdom and deeper purpose."
