Royalty Exteriors is scheduling pre-winter inspections of roofs, siding and gutters after the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Oct. 16 winter outlook favored wetter-than-average conditions along the East Coast from December through February.
NOAA's outlook also favors above-average temperatures across much of the East for the same period, according to coverage of the Oct. 16 release. The agency linked the pattern to a very strong El Niño, which National Weather Service Director Ken Graham said “will likely bring a southward and eastward shift to the jet stream for the contiguous U.S.” Graham added, “Now is the time for communities and individuals to plan ahead for the upcoming winter.”
The agency's National Weather Service declared El Niño conditions and issued an El Niño Advisory on June 11, 2026, forecasting at the time that the event would strengthen to a moderate or strong level this fall. NOAA classifies an event as very strong when sea surface temperatures in the monitored ocean region run more than 2.0 degrees Celsius above average.
The Climate Prediction Center's Oct. 8 diagnostic discussion kept an El Niño Advisory in effect and stated that a strong-to-very strong El Niño is likely through January to March 2027, with a greater than 83% chance. The center issues its El Niño diagnostic discussion monthly. NOAA has noted that its seasonal outlooks do not predict specific storms or snowfall totals months in advance. Temperatures during each storm will determine whether precipitation falls as rain or snow, according to the agency.
“A wet winter puts steady pressure on shingles, flashing and gutters, and small gaps found now are easier to address before freezing weather. The company is setting aside time for inspections through December,” said Ronald Rojas, owner of Royalty Exteriors.
The outlook follows a wet September. The Office of the State Climatologist at Rutgers University reported that September 2026 averaged 6.17 inches of precipitation statewide, 2.01 inches above the 1991-2020 mean, ranking it 17th wettest. By the end of the month, no part of the state was classified in drought by the U.S. Drought Monitor for the first time since mid-August 2025, according to the office.
The roof inspections also cover siding and gutters, which together with roofing make up the three service lines listed on the company's website, according to the company. The company's roofing page notes the heavy winters and humid summers of the area it serves. Its crews work with shingle, metal, TPO and tile roofing materials, and the repair work it lists includes leaks, storm damage and shingle replacement. Inspections can be requested through the company's website or by phone.
Royalty Exteriors is registered as a home improvement contractor under license 13VH09083300 and is GAF certified, a credential issued by the shingle manufacturer rather than by the state. The company reports more than 15 years of hands-on roofing and exterior experience and serves residential and commercial clients. Its website describes the company as a local contractor rather than a national brand, and its blog has recently covered topics including the replacement of older roofs and the timing of siding work.
“Forecasts cannot say how much snow will fall, but they do point to more moisture overall. Checking gutters and roof edges before December gives homeowners time to schedule any repairs,” Rojas said.
